Our Fundamentals

Disciples Support Ministries is a discipleship ministry focused on training, encouraging and equipping pastors, ministry leaders and members of the Body of Christ. The Ministry provides Bible instruction emphasizing clear understanding and practical application of God’s Word.

Mission Statement

Disciple Support Ministries is a non-denominational Bible training and Discipleship ministry, for Pastors & Ministry Leaders living and/or serving the Poorest of the Poor. We respectfully refer to them as the “Pastors of the Least” of our brethren. We focus on training, encouraging and equipping local pastors to minister to their own people. This is accomplished through:

Bible Training

regularly scheduled Bible training classes. We teach the Bible and little else. We teach verse-by-verse, chapter-by-chapter, book-by-book through the entire Bible. We emphasize a contextual, expository, literal and systematic approach, with practical application of Inductive Study methods. Our goal is to equip every pastor with a personal and practical method and desire for life-long self-study of the Bible, regardless of their education level.

Discipleship

training involves personal and direct discipleship in all aspects of the Pastors’ life, including personal and ministerial. Pastors are regularly counseled regarding areas that conflict with biblical standards and required to progress through those issues in order to continue in the program. For example: Pastors are required to be financially supporting their own families through their own labor, to be married in the church, to be baptized, to reform from unbiblical practices both personally and in the ministry. Discipleship is ongoing, grace-filled, practical and goal-oriented. All Pastors have access to Biblical Counseling for themselves, their families and ministry leaders at their convenience.

Our Biblical Foundation

Jesus’ goal to make disciples: “I will make you fishers of men.” (Mt 4.19) DSM focuses on direct discipleship and training of local pastors, much as Jesus did His group of 12. In turn, local pastors are then equipped to make disciples within the congregation and local community (“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations….teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you..” Mt 28.19)

Aaron and Hur’s assistance to Moses (Ex 17.11: “And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses’ hands become heavy; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.”) Aaron and Hur did not replace Moses, but assisted, equipped and strengthened him. DSM focuses on discipleship of local pastors to lead the local church, through efforts of “equipping of the saints for the work of ministry…” (Ep 4.12)

What We Teach

Our curriculum is the Bible. We teach through the entire Bible, verse-by-verse, chapter-by-chapter, book-by-book. Each semester offers both Old and New Testament Books. We teach one of the Gospels every year. Most Pastors attends all classes offered, in addition to working full-time jobs to support their families and ministries.

Statement of Faith

We emphasize ministry to pastors and ministry leaders who otherwise cannot attend Bible College and/or ongoing ministry training. For dedicated students, the Ministry sponsors all expenses, materials and tuition fees. Disciple Support Ministries is a non-denominational, non-sectarian, unaffiliated discipleship ministry. We are not a church, nor are we affiliated with any singular church. We are not a denomination, nor are we opposed to denominations, as such. We believe in the all-sufficiency of Gods Word, teaching the full counsel of the Bible book by book, and the exposition of practical application through straightforward explanation. We teach both expositionally and topically.

Disciple Support Ministries bases its ministry on the following Statement of Faith:

  • We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God. (2 Timothy 3.15-17)

  • We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28.19, Ephesians 4.4-6)

  • We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. (John 1.1-4, Matthew 1.23, Philippians 2.5-11, Hebrews 1.1-4 & 4.15, Acts 1.11 & 2.22-24, 1 Corinthians 15.3-4)

  • We believe that, for the salvation of lost and sinful man, repentance of sin and faith in Jesus Christ results in regeneration by the Holy Spirit and that Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation. (Titus 3.4-7, Luke 24.46-47, Ephesians 2.8-9, John 14.6, Acts 4.12)

  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit whose indwelling enables the Christian to live a godly life. (Galatians 5.16-18, Romans 8.9)

  • We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the saved unto the resurrection of eternal life, and the lost unto the resurrection of damnation and eternal punishment. (Revelation 20.11-15, 1 Corinthians 15.51-57)

  • We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ and that all true believers are members of His body, the Church. (Ephesians 1.22-23, 1 Corinthians 12.12, 27)

  • We believe that the ministry of evangelism is the responsibility of both the church and each Christian. (Romans 10.9-15, Acts 1.8, Matthew 28.18-20, 1 Peter 3.15)
